What is the Minnesota Horse Expo?
An unparalleled educational opportunity with both local and national speakers and clinicians lecturing, demonstrating and presenting methods, tips and suggestions for horse training, care, handling, riding, housing and more every day.
A gathering of horses representing approximately 50 breeds on display in the Horse Barn. Don’t miss the daily noon time Parade of Breeds in the Coliseum, the afternoon breed demonstrations on Friday and Saturday, and the daily Stallion Presentations in the AgStar Arena.
Site of the Minnesota Horse Expo Tack and Clothing Consignment Sale managed by the Minnesota Youth Horse Association and open to the pubic to consign any and all things horse related prior to and during the Expo. Proceeds from this sale are used by the Minnesota Youth Horse Association to help pay for the State 4-H Horse Show, Winter Roundup and other 4-H Horse Project events. In 2012, over 1200 items were consigned by more than 300 individuals.
Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeo performances daily with seven events: Bareback Riding, Team Roping, Tie Down Roping, Saddle-Bronc Riding, Steer Roping, Bull Riding and women’s professional Barrel Racing.
A place to experience free horse, pony and wagon rides. The horse and pony rides are inside the Sheep Barn opposite the Coliseum. Great photo opportunities! A liability release (avaiable at the rides) must be signed by the responsible adult prior to anyone under 18 riding. Wagon rides roll down the main streets of Expo from the AgStar Arena to the Dairy Building with loading/unloading spots along the route.
An opportunity to be around people who know and like horses – whether you’re a horse owner or not. The only place to buy genuine Minnesota Horse Expo logo apparel at the Expo Booth outside the Cattle Barn on Judson Avenue.
The Minnesota Horse Expo is the major fund raiser for the Minnesota Horse Council. Money raised at Expo and turned over to the Minnesota Horse Council since 1982 is estimated to be over 3.4 million. The money has been used to fund a variety of horse related projects including trail development and maintenance, scholarships, and grants. Visit mnhorsecouncil.org for more details and applications.
